I don’t need to explain what’s wrong with denying children a family just to punish your enemies. But that isn’t the only problem with this comment; it also implies that adoptable babies outnumber available homes.
They don’t.
The truth is, aspiring parents often wait years to adopt. So if you’re pregnant and know that raising a child isn’t for you, there are plenty of options. One place to learn more about them is at a pregnancy care center. Another is a website called Adoption.com.

It allows those who’ve already been approved by a licensed adoption agency to create a profile introducing themselves. Most are interested in what’s called an “open adoption”–an arrangement in which the birth mom and adoptive parents are known to each other.
The site also has a link to AdoptHelp.com, a place where you can learn more about the adoption process. Its birth mother advisors can help put together an adoption plan, and you can contact them 24 hours a day.
Adoption isn’t a simple decision, and there are a lot of things to consider. The good news? A lack of options isn’t one of them.
