The New York Times Knows About Racists; It Hired One

If you read the The New York Times, then there’s a word that you’ll probably come across:

“ Racist.”

Just last month, columnist Michelle Goldberg used it when she asked whether President Trump was “causing white terrorism.” And in February, Goldberg said Rep. Rashida Tlaib “got in trouble for pointing out the obvious — the president is a bigot.” Tlaib has written articles for the Nation of Islam and subscribed to an Instagram account that compared Jews to rats.

It’s not surprising that folks at the NYT would focus so much on this subject; after all, there’s a reason why they know so much about racists.

They hired one.

In 2018, Sarah Jeong became their lead technology writer. Jeong says likes exploring the impact of technology on society. Something else she likes? Making elderly white people suffer:

She also enjoys dehumanizing whites by comparing them to dogs:

And monsters:

Jeong put out hundreds of racist tweets over several years, yet despite their worries about bigotry, the paper saw no reason to fire her. Twitter took no action either (aside from granting her verified status), although it did suspend conservative activist Candace Owens when she tweeted the same statements but replaced “white” with “black.”

In 1963, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. dreamed that his “four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.” He preached that the value of one’s life didn’t depend on race, with “all of God’s children” deserving equal treatment.

That’s a beautiful vision. Sadly, the New York Times doesn’t seem to share it. Until folks there do, they should worry less about Trump supporters and more about their editorial board.

Candace Owens Isn’t A Racist, But Here’s Who Is

Conservative activist Candace Owens is the communications director for Turning Point USA and founder of the Blexit movement. Owens was also the victim of a hate crime, something she recently testified about before the House Oversight Committee. During the hearing, Democrat Ted Lieu tried to discredit Owens by playing “the first 30 seconds of a statement she made about Adolf Hitler,” and alleged that she was trying to “legitimize” him.

Owens explained that she was answering a question about whether Hitler was a nationalist, and contended that the German dictator shouldn’t be characterized as one since “a nationalist would not kill their own people.” Before doing so, she stated that Lieu had taken her words out of context because “he believes that black people are stupid and will not pursue the full clip in its entirety.” Committee chairman Jerrold Nadler interrupted Owens and told her not to speak “disparagingly to a member of the committee.” She was having none of it:

That Lieu would pull this stunt isn’t surprising. After all, false allegations of racism are a common tactic on the left. But if the congressman really does want to find people who are legitimizing Hitler, then there’s a place he can look.

His own party.

Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan has called Hitler “a very great man,” while describing Jews as “wicked,” “Satanic,” “termites,” and “my enemy.” That isn’t a problem for some high profile Democrats, with Rep. Maxine Waters physically embracing Farrakhan and then Sen. Barack Obama posing for a picture with him in 2005.

House freshman Rashida Tlaib is also tied to Farrakhan, having written articles for the Nation of Islam. What’s more, she subscribed to an Instagram account that compared Jews to rats and blamed them for 9/11:

Not that Farrakhan is the only figure with a record of hate; the Rev. Al Sharpton has one too. In 1991, anti-Semitic rioters murdered a Jewish man and left others beaten. Sharpton’s comment? “If the Jews want to get it on, tell them to pin their yarmulkes back and come over to my house.”

While leading protests against the Jewish-owned Freddy’s Fashion Mart, Sharpton pledged to “make that cracker suffer,” condemning the proprietors as “white interlopers.” His protest ended when a participant killed seven people and burned the store down. However, this wasn’t enough to keep Sharpton from being welcomed into the Obama White House. It also doesn’t stop Democratic presidential candidates from seeking his approval. Here’s Beto O’Rourke standing next to Sharpton and calling for reparations:

Democrats can play back as much footage of Candace Owens as they want, but it won’t show the bigotry that they’re alleging. Something that will?

A mirror.
