Sorry Beto, Walls Don’t “Kill.” MS-13 Does

Former congressman Robert O’Rourke is known by the nickname “Beto.” Something he isn’t known for? Having the best judgement. As a younger man, he was arrested for burglary and impaired driving after a drunken accident (a police report also says that he tried to flee the scene). What’s more, a friend told The Washington Post that he played a prank on his wife by putting feces in her food, something the O’Rourkes have neither confirmed nor denied.

But it’s not just his actions that aren’t well thought out–his words aren’t either. That was clear earlier this year when O’Rourke not only spoke out against building a border wall but actually pledged to tear down existing barriers, declaring, “Walls do not save lives, walls end lives.”

The first claim would come as a surprise to Israelis, as a Senate report found that completion of Israel’s border wall saw a huge decline in illegal crossings and terrorist attacks. As for the second, it’s difficult to see how a wall is going to end lives. I can tell you who does, though.

MS-13 has a simple motto: “rape, control, kill.” The transnational gang is known for for disemboweling, decapitating, raping and bludgeoning its victims–both rivals and innocent civilians. Murders are sometimes recorded, with the video sent to a victim’s family. In February, MS-13 members killed a man in broad daylight on a New York City subway platform:

While the Trump administration has focused on removing gang members, that isn’t easy when deportees can walk back in. Angel Ramos did. The MS-13 member was deported in 2016; a year later, he was on trial for stabbing a woman and running her over with his car. Of course, gangsters aren’t the only ones that a wall would help keep out.

Ramon Alberto Escobar stands accused of murdering four victims and attempting to kill four others. Escobar is well known to authorities, with the Salvadoran having previously been deported--six times.

Bonifacio Oseguera-Gonzalez was also deported six times prior to killing three people. Jorge Rios-Doblado caught two deportations before authorities say he raped and strangled a woman. Fraider Diaz-Carbajal confessed to a murder after illegally re-entering the US. Luis Bracamontes was deported twice before he murdered two police officers and wounded an African American motorist (at trial Bracamontes shouted, “Black lives don’t matter!” and “I will kill more!”).

Accused murderer Antonio Vasquez Vargas has eight deportations under his belt. And in 2016, Tomas Martinez-Maldonado was charged with sexually assaulting a 13 year-old after he had been kicked out of the country on nineteen occasions.

Given how Beto was born into one wealthy family and married into another, it’s tough not to laugh when he complains about “privilege.” What’s even harder? Taking his thoughts on the border seriously. Because the reality is, walls don’t kill.

Elites Want Illegal Immigrants…Just Not Where They Live

Avi Yemini is a former Israeli soldier and conservative journalist who Comedy Central’s Jim Jefferies recently tried to portray as an Islamophobe. In response, Yemini played recordings of Jefferies making racist comments. Comedy Central doesn’t seem to have been impressed; according to Yemini, the leftwing network reported him as a security threat, and when he arrived in Los Angeles last week, the IDF vet was detained before being deported.

Cases like this show that those trying to enter the country legally can face serious hurdles. Those who enter illegally?

Not so much.

Thanks to Congress, huge sections of the border remain unfenced. And even when illegals get apprehended, they often don’t stay in custody. Earlier this year, Democrats refused to increase funding for detention facilities, something that’s resulted in detainees being released. Last weekend, President Trump offered a suggestion on where they could be sent:

The idea didn’t go over too well with some people. Among them? Cher:

That was a curious response, as the Grammy-winning artist has condemned building a barrier to keep people out. Despite this, she’s very worried about how an influx of illegals could strain the already overtaxed social safety net...in LA. How it would affect communities in Texas and Arizona doesn't seem to be a concern.

This isn’t surprising: JK Rowling wanted the UK to let in more migrants while she lived securely in her mansion. Victor Davis Hanson has examined how elitists often cheer for an open border, knowing that it won’t affect them; meanwhile, communities like his are forced to bear the consequences:

This past week, two miles from my home, an illegal alien fled the scene of an accident that he had caused, which killed a pregnant Mexican-American and critically injured her 11-year-old daughter. He is still at large. Within a 100-mile radius of central California, at least five citizens were killed by illegal alien gunmen in the last four months.

I doubt examples like these will sway wealthy celebrities. Because despite the impact, many of them remain perfectly fine with illegal immigration.

Just not where they live.

Trump’s MS-13 Comments Were An Insult…To Animals.

In 2016, two New York teenagers met a gruesome death. Nisa Mickens and Kayla Cuevas were attacked, their bodies bludgeoned and cut open. You might be wondering, what could have done this on Long Island? Bears? Escaped zoo lions? Nope.

These predators walked on two legs.

The teens were murdered by members of MS-13, a gang based in El Salvador. This was far from the group’s only attack–or even its most brutal. A 14 year-old victim had his heart ripped out. Another young man’s face was carved open (gang members sent a video to his family). Rape is a common tactic, with women sometimes taken “as property.”

Crimes like that lead President Trump to call MS-13 members “animals” when answering a question on sanctuary cities back in 2018. To most, it’s a fair characterization. To Sen. Kristen Gillibrand?

It’s racist:

Gillibrand said that after Trump’s comments were dredged up recently on Twitter. Her outrage was hardly original: last year, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer declared, “When all of our great-great-grandparents came to America they weren’t “animals,” and these people aren’t either.” He didn’t indicate how many decapitations his great-great grandparents had been involved in.

Fellow Democrat Dianne Feinstein condemned the comments as “racist” and “deeply offensive” since “immigrants are our family and friends and they make significant contributions to our country.” Then California Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom also lashed out at Trump for “dehumanizing” immigrants. You would think linking law abiding immigrants to a group that rapes and tortures would be far more offensive, but Democrats apparently feel otherwise.

Media figures were angered too. Juan Cole said Trump’s rhetoric was an “anti-Latino” effort aimed at dehumanizing Hispanics, and it reflected a desire to “wipe them out.” The countless Hispanics who’ve been wiped out by MS-13 didn’t seem to trouble him as much. The Guardian’s Hannah Jane Parkinson had a more succinct reply:

“Trump just verbatim referred to some immigrants as animals. “These aren’t people, these are animals.” Fuck everyone who voted for him and everyone who continues to appease him.”

Obviously, characterizing MS-13 members as “animals” doesn’t fit with liberal sensibilities. Something it does fit? The facts.

Two year ago, MS-13 members allegedly kidnapped 3 teenage girls in Houston. The victims were raped and one was ultimately killed in what prosecutors call a “Satanic” murder. Cases like this demonstrate the importance of securing our border. Because the truth is, President Trump’s comments about MS-13 were an insult—to animals.

Open Borders = More Identity Theft

Leftists often say illegal immigration isn’t a burden to taxpayers. The facts? They say something else.

While it’s true that illegal immigrants are prohibited from collecting federal benefits, their US-born children aren’t. A study conducted by the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) found that in 2012, sixty two percent of households headed by illegal immigrants used some form of public assistance. And while their families are more likely to draw from the system, illegals are less likely to pay in since many work under the table.

Granted, that’s not always the case: some work for employers who require a valid social security number, in which case taxes do get deducted. It’s something Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez recently trumpeted:

Although the congresswoman didn’t mention how “undocumented people” get those social security numbers, James Di Napoli can shed some light. A disabled veteran, Di Napoli went to college after leaving the Army. But when illegals started using his identity, he ended up somewhere else.

On the street.

As reported by the Daily Caller News Foundation, Di Napoli’s unexplained jump in income meant he was no longer eligible for financial aid and was required to pay back the money he had already received. Between that and the loss of his credit, Di Napoli life’s was torn apart, and he ended up homeless. Rep. Doug Lamborn took up Di Napoli’s cause, but the state of California wasn’t as concerned, with then state Attorney General Kamala Harris refusing to help find the identity thieves. Considering her rhetoric, that isn’t surprising:

And Di Napoli isn’t alone: a CIS report showed that states with the largest number of illegal immigrants also suffer from the highest levels of employment-related identity theft; the consequences can be devastating.

The reality is that open borders are costly. The toll comes in many forms, from gruesome crimes by MS-13 to an overburdened social safety net. But a price that’s rarely talked about? Someone stealing your entire life’s work with just simple digits.

Pelosi Says MS-13 Has “Spark Of Divinity.” Babies In The Womb? Nope.

Where MS-13 goes, bloodshed follows. The transnational gang is notorious for disemboweling, decapitating, raping and bludgeoning its victims–both rival gangsters and innocent civilians. Murders are sometimes recorded, with the video sent to a victim’s family.

During a White House meeting in 2018, one California sheriff expressed frustration at the way her state’s sanctuary policies make it hard to combat MS-13. In response, President Trump noted that his administration was suing the state, and emphasized how seriously he took the problem:

Given their record, most people would see Trump’s characterization as reasonable. To left? It’s racist.

Sen. Chuck Schumer complained that, “When all of our great-great-grandparents came to America they weren’t ‘animals,’ and these people aren’t either.” Schumer didn’t elaborate on whether his great-great grandparents had tortured a pregnant woman. But while other Democrats also alleged racism and compared Trump to a Nazi, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi offered a theological critique:

When the President of the United States says about undocumented immigrants, “These aren’t people; these are animals,” you have to wonder: does he not believe in the spark of divinity? The dignity and worth of every person?

As you can see, she’s clearly passionate about the right to life and human dignity…of gang members. Children in the womb? Not so much.

Pelosi is a long-time abortion advocate, calling it “sacred ground.” That includes late-term abortion: she refused to applaud when President Trump condemned it during his State of the Union address.

And two years ago, she voted against legislation that would have banned most abortions after twenty weeks--the point when research suggests that a fetus can feel pain. Dr. Anthony Levatino has performed over 1300 abortions, and in this video, he describes what a twenty week abortion involves:

Many assume such abortions are only done when “medically necessary,” but that isn’t correct. What’s more, women who abort often report feeling pressured to do. Further, some states don’t place gestational limits on when those abortions can take place. In New Mexico, Southwestern Women’s Option advertises abortions through 32 weeks.

In 2014, a little guy named was Trevor Froleck was delivered at 23 weeks. When Trevor was born, he had “worth,” “dignity,” and “the spark of divinity.” He would have that spark even if he had been aborted instead. Nancy Pelosi can see it in men who rape, stab, and shoot innocent victims; why not a child?

US Bishops “Concerned” About Border Wall. Crime Victims? Not So Much.

That deportees can simply walk right back in is an example of why America needs a physical barrier on its southern border. The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) recently weighed in on the issue, and the group expressed concern…about building a wall. About the threat to crime victims?

Not so much.

In a statement released on February 15, USCCB voiced opposition to what it called “a symbol of division and animosity,” preferring instead “the vision articulated by Pope Francis that at this time we need to be building bridges and not walls.” It’s not clear how bridges would make America safer, but it’s easy to see why a wall would. Israel saw illegal border crossings drop massively when it constructed one on its border with Egypt, so it’s reasonable to think one could save lives here too. But to the bishops, “animosity” is a bigger worry.

This isn’t surprising given how the USCCB has a history of pushing irrelevant proposals while ignoring real problems. An example of the former can be seen in its call to ban “assault weapons,” even though FBI figures show that in 2017, rifles of all types combined were used in less than three percent of homicides, and cases of people using semi-automatic rifles to defend themselves aren’t hard to find. An example of the latter? How the bishops failed to address sexual predators in their midst. The USCCB’s website continues to reference ex-cardinal Theodore Cardinal McCarrick’s advocacy for gun control, despite him being exposed as a serial abuser.

Two years go, police in Hempstead, New York arrested a man for stabbing two women and abusing a child; he had already been deported four times. While its members like to talk about “defending human life and promoting the dignity of the human person,” USCCB’s rhetoric can’t prevent tragedies like this. Steel and concrete can.

Illegal Immigration Ruined A Vet’s Life

James Di Napoli wore a military uniform for 9 years, including time spent in Iraq. By 2012, he was spending time somewhere else.

As reported by the Daily Caller News Foundation, identity theft had rendered Napoli homeless. His father allegedly sold his social security number when he was 17, and it was now being used by illegal immigrants, leaving his life “destroyed.” Although Napoli has since gotten a new number, he’s had to rebuild his credit from scratch.

And while a Colorado congressman took up the veteran’s cause, California’s top law enforcement official wasn’t so enthusiastic: instead of pursuing the issue, then state attorney general and current presidential hopeful Kamala Harris merely sent Napoli a letter with a list of phone numbers to call. Considering her rhetoric, that isn’t surprising:

But as victims like Napoli know, identity theft and illegal immigration are closely linked.
